Father’s Day 2011
The modern use of the word mentor: A trusted friend, counselor or teacher, usually a more experienced personWithout others to follow & learn from, life would be so much more challenging
FYI: Father Day is Sunday (public service announcement) My Father turns 82 on Saturday – simply amazing.
I see my Father daily in my mind. I attempt to channel him when I can. He created a wonderful family and life for the Nelson clan w/ my Mom. Not the perfect family; they do not exist My Father is the most trusting, honest, hard-working & loving man I know. He shows this thru his daily activities & how he takes care of Mom & my brother and sister. He still mows the Lions Park in Merrifield, MN + fixes furnaces & anything else their church needs. He runs around w/ a bunch of other 80 something men, who have lived full lives & raised families of their own. Dad will take in information, process it & then carefully word or make a response I am still working on being like that I am too quick to respond Character flaws – I have plenty of them

National Coming Out
October 5, 2011 Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the USA (October 12 in The United Kingdom) is National Coming Out Day (NCOD). This is an internationally observed civil awareness day for coming out & discussion about gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender people (LGBT) & asexuals. It is observed by members of the LGBT communities & their supporters (often referred to as allies) on October 11 every year or October 12 in the United Kingdom. ______________________________________________________When I was in college, I started to explore the LGBT world. I went to a club called the Gay 90′s on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis. This place looked like Vegas Casino Huge flashing Marquee announcing itself I was very tipsy (felt I needed that to prepare myself) I wandered in, nervous as hell. The place is made up of various rooms, a leather bar, a dance club, a Drag Queen performance space, a cowboy Bar and a Go Go lounge. Basically a Gay Mall. A beautiful black & white fox terrier named Peppy aka Peppy-la-poo was our family dog (the street we lived on was called Territorial Road: thus my drag name Peppy Territorial FYI)
Peppy arrived to the Nelson household as a puppy for my sister. Never was a dog so beloved as Peppy. Peppy was a character. He loved to sing (more of a howl) w/ Mom as she would play her accordion; especially My Wild Irish Rose (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2D7nXEBjSY) Besides his penchant for a tune, he could hear a can opener from a mile away & also the opening of a bucket of ice cream (he always got a scoop) He had a bed in the vestibule, but spent many a night at the foot of my bed, and by morning up snuggling near my head. He was an adventurous pup, and would venture to dangerous places like Mean Old Man Stearns, who shot @ him (bastard) When Mom went to work in my teen years, it was puppy that would see me off to school & welcome me home after a day of hell dealing w/ the gayboy bashing kids from school. Sometimes there is a game I play w/ some girlfriends called: Your team or my team? Where as we discuss whether someone is gay or not. It is NOT easy! The whole metrosexual & homothug dealios have screwed up my calculations. at some point in time soon I pray: No one will care period. And the only discussion will be: are they loved? do they have someone that loves them? That in my mind is a better discussion. ______________________________________________________
Last Friday, was especially fun @ the F Word. Aside from the crazy mixture of boys, girls, sexy, energized, giving flavor etc New Jersey was in the House! Thank you Jesus!
