OutCycling – NYC PRIDE RIDE
LGBT bike clubs in NYC are celebrating Pride Month w/ a healthy new activity: the NYC Pride Ride (nycpridride.org) on June 22
A bike tour that will take cyclists across the George Washington Bridge to scenic Bergen & Rockland counties for distances of 30, 60, or 100 miles.
Organizers expect the event to bring more awareness of cycling as a healthy outdoor activity to New York’s LGBT community.
“Cycling has helped LGBT New Yorkers find new friends, get healthier, and explore the metropolitan area,” said Graham Weinstein, president of OutCycling, the sponsoring club.
“It’s time we unify the LGBT cycling community with a fun & meaningful Pride event.”
Registration opens NOW at nycprideride.org & will cost $35 until June 15th & $50 thereafter.
Riders will meet in the parking lot of the uptown Fairway Market between 131st & 132nd Streets @ 7am, across from the Hudson River Greenway @ 12th Avenue, where cue sheets will be handed out.
To help people connect during the ride, pace captains will lead small groups of riders on each of the distances.
Suggested paces for the groups will be 9 -12 average mph for the C riders, 13-15 average mph for B riders, and 16-17 average mph for A riders.
